Archive Enquiries

Are you researching a relative whom you believe might be buried in Axbridge, Shipham or Rowberrow churchyards?

Our registers of burials in St. John the Baptist churchyard date from 1899. We also hold a record of all existing headstones (1493-2006).

Registers before 1899 are held by Somerset Archive and Records Service (see below for contact details).  We do not hold local copies.

There is also a Town Cemetery with more recent plots as the churchyard is now closed for burials.

For specific enquiries, contact the following:

Please send details of names, as fully as possible, and date of death, along with which churchyard, to:

Note that the parish does not have an archivist and we respond to requests on a 'best efforts' basis.  Please include an A5 postage paid envelope with your request.
