Welcome to the Parish Church of
St. John the Baptist
Axbridge

United with St. Leonard, Shipham and
St. Michael and All Angels, Rowberrow.

Whether you come to worship, or to enjoy the peace, or to marvel at the beauty of the building, welcome to Axbridge Church.

During 'Access for All' building work starting in mid-September the church will be open as usual for services and for visitors during the day for the whole period.  The West Door will be the main entrance to church.  The footpath in front of the church steps will be closed, and people coming from the easterly Chestnut Avenue direction will need to go down the slope of Church Path to The Square and up the steps or across the churchyard.

How to find us

We are in the centre of Axbridge overlooking the north east side of the town square.

Tel: 01934 732261

email: churchoffice@uwclub.net

The Church Rooms are opposite the church entrance, a few steps down from the top of the steps from The Square.  There is level access from the public highway to the Church Rooms but note that the 'highway' in this case is The Church Steps.

Axbridge Church itself is not the easiest to access because of the steps that lead up from The Square.  Please see the Church Information -> Access link if you find steps difficult!  We have a plan to provide level access - see the details.

There is limited 1 hour parking in The Square; note that this is regularly patrolled, including on Sunday.  There are two car parks, in Old Church Road and Moorland Street, signposted from The Square.

Safeguarding

We take safeguarding very seriously at St John the Baptist Church.  If you are concerned about a child or vulnerable adult who is at risk of significant abuse, exploitation or neglect and this is urgent please click here for contact details of the safeguarding team at the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

This church has a safeguarding officer whose name can be found in the ‘Who’s Who’ section of this website and who can be contacted for advice and will take appropriate action following the Diocesan guidelines.
