Process for appointing a new Rector

The Diocese has now given the green light to advertise for a Priest-in-Charge for the Benefice and the advert for the post is here.

Part of the process involved the Benefice producing a parish profile which is our shop window. It is a detailed document giving information to potential candidates on, amongst other things, the local context, the congregation, mission, buildings, the finances, the future, the deanery and the Diocese. It aims to be really clear in saying to potential applicants who we are and what we offer. The Benefice profile was written by a group of 10 people from each of our three parishes. It can be downloaded here.

Please continue to pray that suitable applicants will apply for the post and that we can make an appointment after the interviews which are scheduled for the end of January 2022.

Tel: 01934 732261

email: churchoffice@uwclub.net

A gently sloping walkway at the top of the steps from The Square provides level access to Axbridge Church.  Access without steps is available from Church Lane (off St Mary's Street but this is quite steep), Back Lane and Chestnut Avenue.  See the map for details.
The Church Rooms are opposite the church entrance, a few steps down from the top of the steps from The Square.  There is level access from the public highway to the Church Rooms but note that the 'highway' in this case is The Church Steps.
There is limited 1 hour parking in The Square; note that this is regularly patrolled, including on Sunday.  There are two car parks, in Old Church Road and Moorland Street, signposted from The Square.

We take safeguarding very seriously at St John the Baptist Church.  If you are concerned about a child or vulnerable adult who is at risk of significant abuse, exploitation or neglect and this is urgent please click here for contact details of the safeguarding team at the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

This church has a safeguarding officer whose name can be found in the ‘Who’s Who’ section of this website and who can be contacted for advice and will take appropriate action following the Diocesan guidelines.
